10 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Columbus, Ohio – Aside from being known as the home of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Columbus has many other interesting things that you probably didn’t know about. Read along to learn more and even find some new great places to visit.

  1. Columbus, and Ohio in general, may seem like just a blip on the radar compared to some other large cities, but Columbus is the 15th largest city in the United States.
  2. COSI (Center of Science and Industry) was named the #1 Science Center in the U.S for families by Parents Magazine in 2008. This is a great place to take the kids, or even explore yourself!  http://cosi.org/
  3. Columbus is not just about football and hockey! It is also one of the best cities for the arts. Columbus is home to the Columbus College of Art and Design, the Short North, Gallery Art Center, The Ohio Theater, The Museum of Arts and much, much more. Come explore every aspect of art you could imagine.
  4. The annual Doo Dah Parade is something you may not know about. This parade is dedicated to all things satirical. It has been a tradition since 1983 to celebrate liberty, as well as lunacy, on the Fourth of July. Watch the parade and see marching Fidels and the King and Queen of Doo Dah.
  5. In 2009 the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium was rated the #1 Zoo in the USA Travel Guide. It has many exhibits to explore as well as Zoombezi Bay, a great outdoor water park to enjoy in the summer.

  9. German Village is a great area to visit in Columbus. It boasts gorgeous buildings and brick streets. In 1796 it was appropriated Refugee Lands for those who had supported the Colonial cause in the American Revolution. By 1865 most of the population was German and flourishing. It endured the anti-German discrimination and book burnings and finally by 1975 was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
  10.  The final thing that you probably didn’t know is the famous actor, Josh Radner, is from Columbus, Ohio. Josh Radner plays Ted Mosby in the hit series “How I Met Your Mother”. He was born and raised in Bexley, Ohio in 1974.
